Lead Scraper vs Outscraper

These are not the same kind of product, which is the most useful thing to know before comparing prices. Outscraper is cloud data infrastructure billed by the record. Lead Scraper is a Mac app that runs the whole prospecting job locally for a flat fee. One of them is probably obviously right for you.

The one-line version

  • Pick Outscraper if you want data by API, at volume, on any operating system, to feed into tools you already have.
  • Pick Lead Scraper if you are one person on a Mac who wants a finished workflow — find, grade, rank, draft, send — with a predictable monthly cost and no per-lead meter running.

Where Outscraper is genuinely the better buy

If any of these describe you, stop reading and go to them — this is not a close call and pretending otherwise would waste your afternoon:

  • You are not on a Mac, or not on a recent Apple silicon one. Nothing here runs on Windows, Linux, or an Intel Mac.
  • You want to trigger scrapes from a server, a cron job or an automation tool. Their API exists; there is no Lead Scraper API.
  • You want tens of thousands of records in one job. A local app on one machine is the wrong shape for that.
  • You want Google Maps as the source specifically — for reviews, categories and coordinates at that scale.
  • You already have a sequencer you like and you only want the data half.

Where the difference actually bites

The one that surprises people is the meter, and not because of the amount. Per-record billing changes how you work: you hesitate before a speculative scrape, you narrow the radius, and you skip the county you were curious about — because every run costs something and you are guessing whether it will be worth it.

With a flat fee that hesitation is gone. Scrape the neighbouring county because you wondered. Re-run last month’s trade to see what changed. The cost of being wrong is your time, which you were spending anyway, rather than a line on a bill.

Whether that matters is a question about how you work rather than about the products. If you run a small number of large, planned jobs it is worth nothing at all. If you poke around, it is most of the value.

The other difference: what you get back

Outscraper hands you records. What you then need — deciding which of these businesses has a website bad enough to pitch, which of them can afford you, finding an address that is not a contact form, and writing something that does not read like a template — is the work, and it stays yours.

Lead Scraper is built around that second half. It grades every site, scores weakness against traction so a busy business on a dated site outranks a quiet one on a broken site, and drafts the first email naming the specific problem. That is the trade for the smaller scale.

Outscraper’s pricing and packaging were checked on 1 August 2026and are stated as of that date. They change theirs when they like — read it at outscraper.com before deciding on the strength of a number on somebody else’s website, including this one.

Is Lead Scraper cheaper than Outscraper?

It depends entirely on volume, and past a certain point Outscraper is cheaper. Lead Scraper charges a flat subscription — free for 3 scrapes a month, $9/month for unlimited — with no per-record cost, so cost per lead falls as you scrape more. Outscraper bills per record, so it is free at very small volumes (their first 500 records cost nothing, as of 1 August 2026) and scales linearly after that. For one person working a handful of counties a month, the flat subscription wins. For a hundred thousand records, per-record billing wins.

Does Lead Scraper have an API?

No. It is a desktop app and everything runs on your Mac while the app is open. If you need to trigger scrapes from a server, a workflow tool or another application, Outscraper has an API and Lead Scraper does not — that is a real reason to pick them.

Do both find email addresses?

Both can, but the billing differs. Lead Scraper crawls for a contact address as part of the same scrape, at no extra charge. With Outscraper, as of 1 August 2026, email addresses come from a separate Emails & Contacts service billed separately from the Google Maps scrape — so a per-record price quoted for the listings is not the price of a lead you can email.

Can either one send the email?

Lead Scraper drafts and sends, through the Mail account already on your Mac, with a three-touch follow-up sequence that stops when someone replies. Outscraper is a data provider — you export the records and send them from whatever tool you already use. If you have a sequencer you like, that separation may suit you better.

What if I am not on a Mac?

Then this comparison resolves itself: Lead Scraper requires macOS 26+ · Apple silicon and there is no Windows, Linux or web version. Outscraper runs in a browser and works anywhere.

Trying it costs nothing

3 scrapes a month, no card. That is enough to work one county properly and compare the lead quality against whatever you are using now, which is the only comparison that settles anything.
